There is nothing more natural and organic than cleansing your face with plant extracts and base oils that are preservative-free. Contrary to claims that two-phase cleansing comes from Asian skin care culture, this method has been known for a long time. There are several reasons why it is successfully applied.

One of the main ones is that the oil texture successfully dissolves oil-based dirt – makeup, foundation, creams, dead cells, skin buildup. It cleans deeply, not just on the surface, dissolving and acting quickly, efficiently, without clogging pores.

That’s why there’s a second step in the process – an exfoliating toner, micellar water or foam. This is where the term two-step oil cleansing comes from. After the first wash of dirt and dry cells, there’s a second phase – another cleanser that further cleanses the residue.

What is Hydrophilic Oil

Hydrophilic oil is a product that combines suitable oils, and after contact with water, it turns into a milky emulsion. Accordingly, it is more easily spreadable and more easily soluble on the surface of the skin. The key issue is the proximity of the texture of the oils to the skin composition. Oily skin is soothed and balances sebum production, as there is no threat of overdrying. Dry to sensitive skin, in turn, is nourished and does not experience deficiencies. The ideal formula of makeup removers is when there are no misleading oils and they have a low comedogenic index, respectively, they do not clog pores.

The steps of use are easy, with a specific logic. On dry skin, apply the oil to the face and décolleté; if it is hydrophilic, with water it spreads even more easily on the skin and eyes. The face is covered with a warm terry cloth (muslin) towel, which has been wetted with hot water and wrung out. The warm procedure stimulates blood circulation, activates the oils and softens dead cells and dirt. The application of the towel can be repeated several times and finally, with light movements, it is wiped carefully, which removes dirt and oil residue.

If the skin is sensitive and couperose, wiping with a towel can irritate the epidermis. Therefore, first massage the oil into the face, then rinse with water and the selection of the next cleansing product is important. For acne-prone skin, massaging should also be careful to avoid a rash or inflammation. The second step in the two-phase cleansing is a personal choice or is with a specific goal in mind – acne, makeup, oily, mature or dry skin.

Two-phase cleansing is not a trend, but a logical and physiological approach to the skin. The skin needs a subsequent second dose of understanding, so it will repay itself with balanced sebum, a more even complexion, less inflammation. Deep cleansing is the basis of every routine. It is applied in the evening, as in the morning it is enough to rinse with water and apply hydration before the next care and beauty products.
